Sunday Snapshots: Don't Spill the Beans!

I could write you all and tell you how Thankful I am for my family and friends and our Thanksgiving weekend, but I don't have any pictures to show from that so you would have to believe me in what I write anyway, so I had a very Thankful weekend. Believe me?

Anyway, excitement started at 3:45am Friday morning. Black Friday shopping of course was on my list, with a list of things that I would like and 3 people that had never been out before I was ready for anything. Emily, Rachael and Leah joined me for some shopping; none of them really much of morning people were ready to go. Plus Leah had a 6 cup coffee mug with her. Target was our first stop and after an hour we were on out way to Old Navy, a break for Breakfast and then on to Value city to pick something up for Emily's mom. I have to say shopping when it is dark out is a lot more fun than when its sunny. We had no particular item we wanted, we were going for some fun and man did they keep me entertained.

Now it is all about hiding the gifts that I have. Don't Spill the Beans about anything! (Which we have already done with a gift for mom.)

I did get some great deals this weekend. And got all my shopping done except for a book I have to get for 2 cute little boys then I'm all done.

This killed me. No Reading Required. Who prints that on a game?

All my fleece...can't Spill the Beans what for just yet!

Don't get me wrong I loved being home and did have a really great time. I saw all kinds of family and a couple friends, but really just relaxed and did whatever I wanted and did no homework. Friday after my 4 hour nap from shopping, we put up all our Christmas decorations and watched The Santa Claus 2. This is what happens when we can't find the tree skirt...everything gets left out till further notice. I mean I was the only one that had to climb through this pile of boxes to get to my room.

Now that Christmas is so near and November is gone, where did it go by the way?, I'm so ready for classes to be over and to be home for a longer break. I'll get to see my friends at home more and visit with more family that we didn't see over Thanksgiving.

Until then, DON'T SPILL THE BEANS on what I bought for gifts.

Sunday Snapshots: Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all time. It's time to spend with family and loved ones, while eating too much and enjoying company. As I have gotten older, my Thanksgiving traditions have changed. I've mentioned Thanksgiving a lot here on my blog last year, with this post here. Thanksgiving for my family has a lot of things intertwined. I think that is why I love Thanksgiving so much.

We kept our our tradition like last year and had a GVSU Friends Thanksgiving. Oh man was this bigger than last year though. This year reminded me very much of the years at my Aunt Dee's all in the living room eating wherever we could find a spot, friends laughing and having the window open because it was so warm.

Of course we had awesome food, and amazing decorations and tons of friends to help eat the 20lb turkey; that is pretty much all gone.
We had a dress code...and it was for sure not Cosby Sweaters.

Everyone was part of an awesome craft decoration for Thankful banner

This was Rachael's only job for the night and she took it very seriously.
No one can mess with her cranberry sauce.

Our awesome name tags Morgan worked so hard on.

We had all kinds of friends there. Some from Freshman year, and some new friends from this year.

How good does that look?
I'll tell you it was YUMMY!
Our chef Morgan who worked so hard all day and missed the football game to make our dinner

Tori was taking a picture while I was taking a picture...has to be one of my favorites of the night

and then there's this kid. Never play 50 States with him..ever!

Oh Heath was more excited for the stuffing than anything else.

Michelle, Brittany and Laura

Oh Admission friends + the VIP wanna be Heath

And the girls! All fancy and enjoying the night.

Thanksgiving Gang!

This weekend was a very awesome weekend. Saturday was jam packed with the Lakers Playoff Game and Thanksgiving dinner of course. With a Laker win 35-13 and an amazing dinner the weekend is complete. Now two days left till a quick break before the end of the semester.

Thanks to all my friends who came for dinner, and helped with dinner. It was a fun time! Mark your calendars next year November 19th 2011!

Also start studying friends..Thanksgiving will always have a 50 states game included!!

Why? Wednesday

Why is it that every holiday season makes me think about the one who had let me down more in the past than ever. The holiday season makes me want my family near. The holidays make me miss Aunt Dee, Kathy, Al, Uncle Joe, and Poppa more than ever. The holidays make me think of the last time I've seen them. The last time I've seen him. The holidays make me want the surprise and excitement of his car in my driveway for everyone to know that my Uncle is visiting. The holidays make me miss my Uncle David ever so much.

I am one of his little girls, spoiled by him as we grew up and then all the sudden gone for work and never having time for us anymore. He's the number one question we get, "So have you heard from your uncle?"

A phone call on Christmas is the only time I ever hear his voice. He's let me down but how can I hold this against him for so long. One day he will be gone and we only have so many days together. Life may not be fair, but to have my uncle surprise my for Thanksgiving would be the best start to the holidays.

I miss his hug, his voice, and to know he just doesn't have time is somewhat understandable but to have him HOME would be a thanks for my whole family. Even if he has talked about it, I don't want to know. I would love to drive home late with Rae after classes let out to see his car in the driveway. I would be the happiest person ever.

For the holidays coming, all I want is a hug from my uncle.

Till Later

Sunday Snapshot: Manly Time

I know it's been a whole 2 weeks since my last post but did not have much to share last week. This week I got some awesome pictures of the gang.

This past week was for sure not a great week. Did not do some hot on some tests, had a plumbing issue and then the best of the week got a flat tire.

Of course this flat tire was a great way for the girls and I to learn how to change a tire. Flat tire happened Tuesday, I saw it in the parking lot after I got out of class so it was late and we were off to BD's for a fundraiser. Wednesday I would not be able to get to with class all day, so Thursday we set off to change this tire. It's pretty bad when you have to schedule to change a tire. Of course it had to be snowing that morning and it was freezing when we started doing this at 6pm. But Morgan, Rachel, Kristen and I were determined. We did most of it and about 7o'clock someone drove by to see if we needed help. We had all but one lung nut off and allowed him to help us.

We may not have finished all the way. But we do now all know how to change a tire and we're pretty proud of it.
and it begins

Just sitting and watching whats happening
 the official cranker

Trying to get the stubborn lug nut off
 hahaha
actually Morgan was the OFFICIAL cranker
