What I think about online learning

Online Learning. Truthfully not a fan. I find myself working a lot on this class in general than on the rest of my classes. Some aspects of this class is really great. I like exploring the different resources to use later and reading about technology is other classes and how its working, but I'm a learner that needs a lecture. At least that's what I've decided.

But then I think about how this class would be in a classroom setting and truthfully I think this is the way to do this class. There would be a lot more work if there was a lecture and then we had to go and look at all the resources and articles. I guess I just have to get my self out of the "normal" classroom setting and expand my mind to how technology is changing the classroom.

I do find that I need to make time to sit down and get all the parts complete to insure I have finished the weeks assignments. The 2nd week I did not do that and missed the lab that we were to complete since I was skipping back and forth on the different assignments.

Overall I guess its not a bad idea to have an online class. Will I take another? Most likely. Especially if technology keeps growing like it is now.

  1. Yeah, actually scheduling time to do an online class is crucial even for me. If I don't then I put stuff on the back burner and I am rushing to get it done later on.

I have taught this face to face and let those students choose to do it online instead. A little over 1/2 choose to do it online only, but eventually a few students give up on the online and return to face to face. It ends up being about 50/50 in preferences.
