The Chronicles of Room 19: Excitement

Walking into my room today you would have thought it was Christmas. Actually one teacher did. But nope Christmas has come and gone, it was a different excitement. New Math books!

Yes my students were so excited over their volume 2 math books, that it sounded like Christmas in our classroom. Gotta love what 4th graders get excited about.

Yet not only did they get new math books, but after 2 days of testing we decided they needed to do something fun for math. And what we did was super fun. They got to make ice cream! And because there are an odd number of students guess who got to partner up with someone...ME! It was so cute to hear my CT tell the students that one of them would be working with me, and they all oooooed. Later when we were working the student that was paired with me all the other girls said she was lucky. Ahh to be loved by 4th graders. So cute!

Did you know though that the ice cream salt makes dry hands burn forever! My hands are so red, and my shirt was all wet and now has salt all over it. But that comes with the fun of working with 4th graders, and having a fun Math lesson.

Of course the math was tied ever so nicely into the fun. We have just finished a Metrics unit and all the directions were in metrics. Oh how clever teachers can be.
